The day began like any other, as usual my kids didn't want to stand still while waiting for the bus and so while they were running about they discovered exactly why I told them to stay away from ant hills. For those of you not familiar with fire ants their bites feel like a bee sting and burn like your skins on fire. The scariest thing about them is when you step on a pile the whole army swarms out and starts attacking whoever or whatever bothered their home. Both of my children decided to stand on a hill and of course they were wearing sandles. I waded into the battle getting bitten as I tried to save my children from the nasty little creatures. I'm sure that we suffered more harm than they did, you only have to look at our ankles and feet to prove it. Not to mention that a female ant lays about 1,000 eggs per day. Poor Kenzi didn't get any motherly comfort because the bus pulled up just as I was smashing the last little culprit on her. I'm sure I looked quite the site throwing my two kids on the ground and attacking them like a wild woman, hopefully no one called to report me. And the moral of this story is "Watch where you are walking in Texas!"

Gotta love the Texas "wildlife!" Have you seen enough grasshopers to last more than a lifetime? Glad that your posting more often, I love to read your adventures!
Linsey,
How NOT fun that sounds! I didn't know you started a blog! I haven't checked your website for a few weeks now and then I did today and clicked and saw your blog. I'm so glad I checked it out today! So fun to see you and your adorable kids and read about the good and bad of your life! :) I have a blog too; you can click on me and view my blog whenever. Sounds like Texas has it's good and bad like everywhere--your hikes for a few weeks ago look so fun and the weather seems beautiful there! Great to hear from you!
